Our Healing Ministry

Methodist Central Hall Westminster has had an active Healing Ministry for over 20 years. It was originally set up by Revd Dr. Malcom White in October 1998 and is now coordinated by Alison Bryan. We believe that God desires wholeness of life for all and so we offer opportunities for individual and corporate prayer for healing and wholeness for body, heart, mind, and spirit. This is in the context of the wider healing ministry of the whole Church. Apart from individual needs for healing, there is a need for healing in human society, scarred as it is by war, injustice, and oppression. The Church’s ministry of healing is therefore one of reconciliation and forgiveness. Healing is a process through which we come to the wholeness of life which even death cannot destroy.

In the Healing Ministry at Methodist Central Hall Westminster, prayers for individual needs for healing and wholeness are offered by trained volunteers who make up our ministry team. We seek to enable individuals to encounter and receive from the one who heals, Jesus Christ, through the presence and power of his Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus still heals today. Sometimes it is miraculous and instantaneous and other times it is a process we walk through together in prayer.

This ministry is in no sense offered as an alternative to medical care. Medical help should always be sought as God works through the gifts of medical science and professional medical staff.

We have a variety of opportunities to access our Healing Ministry

1) There are two Healing Services each month where corporate prayers for healing are part of the services. In addition, members of the healing prayer team are available to offer individual prayer ministry.

There is our main Healing Service on the first Sunday Evening of the month in the Great Hall. It starts at 6pm and the team is available to offer individual prayer at the end of the service The third Thursday of the month is our lunchtime Healing Encounter service in the Chapel at 12.30 pm. This is a quiet, reflective service and a small healing prayer team is available to offer individual prayer from around 1.15 pm as the service ends.

2) On the second Saturday of the month we have resumed our Healing Space, where anyone can just drop in and find a listening ear, a quiet space for reflection and prayer ministry. This is held in the chapel from 11-1pm

3) We continue to take healing prayer requests through our team email Healingprayer.Team@mchw.org.uk . Our dedicated team are delighted to be able to bring your requests before God in prayer.
