Lent Course 2025

Transforming the Nation

Your invitation to take part in the Lent course of the Methodist Central Hall Westminster on Thursdays in Lent. This year we are exploring the gospel teaching concerning a number of community and policy issues confronting our country under the title ‘Transforming the Nation’.

The proposal for this Lent course finds its genesis in Wesley’s description of the purpose of Methodism:

At the first Conference of Methodist Preachers in 1744 the question was posed: ‘What may we reasonably believe to be God’s design, in raising up the Preachers, called Methodist?’ The answer is illuminating:

‘To reform the nation, more particularly the Church, to spread scriptural holiness over the land.’

We are taking on significant issues for our time with experts in the field being interviewed each week.

  • Justice and law
  • Education and learning
  • The Arts
  • Evangelism and a missional church
  • Community cohesion and issues
  • Governance and democracy.
